About This Pipe
I'm not sure what it is. It could be the readily detectable implied visual motion; sleek, aerodynamic disposition; or possibly just the forward-thrust bowl and subsequent taper toward the aft, but this piece from Tonni Nielsen evokes the look of a gear-shift on a high-end sporting automobile, possibly that of a Bugatti or Maybach to my eye, when viewed from the smoker's perspective. There's also something to the combination of smoothly-polished briar at the fore, coupled with blasted ring-grain at the aft, that practically beckons the hand to grasp it, shift a favorite blend into the chamber, and take to the open road.*
*This pipe is not made to be driven. The author has also never driven a Bugatti nor a Maybach at the time of this writing.
