About This Pipe

While much can be said for Tonni Nielsen's beautiful line work and eye for proportions, his penchant for pairing shapes with fitting finishes and accents is also just as worthy of praise. Take this bent Brandy for example. The bowl itself has been lent a bit of extra substance, broadening the low-set waistline and heightening the bowl to near Stack proportions; Tonni's accentuated that visual weight all the more by finishing the bowl itself in a thick, craggy, extra-dark rustication — contrasted by the warm ruby hues of the upward reaching shank and unique stem accent, which itself is composed of sandwiched wafers of boxwood, black palm, and horn. Both shaping and finish work to create a profile that simply captures the eye: a beautiful composition quite unlike anything else.
