Sandblasted Bent Bulldog with Stabilized Fossilized Coral Tobacco Pipe

Sabina Santos lives in Portugal and is one of the few artisan pipe makers in the region. She discovered her passion for pipe making online after leaving her corporate job. Initially, she learned through simple trial and error, but her skills quickly evolved. This journey took her to Denmark for mentorships under renowned artisan pipe makers in the region. Over several trips, she refined her craft, enhancing her skills in both finishing and shaping. Sabina combines her natural talent with an infectious enthusiasm for design, making her work stand out in the pipe-making community.

One of the most distinctive aspects of Sabina's work is her imaginative use of accent materials, many of which are rarely seen in artisan pipe making. This bent Bulldog is a perfect example, featuring a striking accent of stabilized fossil coral in a vivid shade of blue — the first time she has incorporated the material into one of her designs, and a fitting debut. While the Bulldog is traditionally a stout, muscular shape, Sabina reinterprets it through a more geometric lens. Beyond the signature diamond shank, the bowl is broad yet tall, with crisp, architectural lines that rise to a subtly saucer-like rim. A light sandblast accentuates tightly stacked growth rings along the bowl's gently conical walls, while the beadlines are left smooth to provide a clean visual contrast. Complementing the brilliant coral accent is a stem fashioned from matching bright blue vulcanite, lending the composition a cohesive splash of color that ensures this pipe stands out both in hand and on the rack.
