About This Pipe
Silver Gray is an American artisan with well over a decade of pipe-making experience and a highly diverse portfolio to show for it. Over her career, she has pioneered several signature shapes, and much of her work incorporates unique, unconventional materials.
This bent Bulldog is a gorgeous offering from Gray that combines gracefully flowing curves with crisp, exacting lines. A stout, Saucer-like bowl crouches at the fore of a languidly bent shank-and-stem arrangement, the latter's curvature flowing seamlessly into the heel of the former, imbuing the overall piece with a fluid, graceful sense of motion. Tight beadlines demarcate the bowl's already pronounced waist, which itself separates dense swirls of birdseye up top from the flickers of flame grain that adorn the bowl's heel. A warm, contrast-rich stain and silky smooth finish dress the stummel, while a brindled stem of black and ochre vulcanite completes the ensemble. Lovely in both form and finish, this bent Bulldog will make an outstanding addition to any pipe collection.
