About This Pipe
Talented Greek artisan Chris Asteriou began crafting pipes in 2007, drawing on his background in industrial design and architecture. Asteriou's designs draw from a range of influences, from classic Anglo-French designs to the unique Freehands of Danish pipe making. However, it's his clean line work, keen eye for proportions, and flawless engineering that make his work distinctly his own.
This bent Pot reflects Asteriou's more traditional sensibilities, walking the line between an Opera and a classic Pot shape through its compressed proportions and stout, muscular profile. The design recalls Danish-influenced interpretations, combining compact muscularity with a graceful curvature that flows continuously along the underside.
While the bowl naturally commands attention at the fore, Asteriou balances that visual weight with a gently rising shank-and-stem arrangement. This subtle lift offsets the bowl's mass and encourages a comfortable, natural smoking posture. The shank tapers easily into the stem, whose softly rounded shoulders echo the form's overall muscularity. The stummel features a sandblasted finish that highlights flowing grain patterns across the briar, contrasted by a smooth rim. A crisp boxwood accent adds a touch of brightness, its warm tone complementing the profile's refined, cohesive palette.
