Smooth Bent Billiard with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

To my eye, designs such as this bent Billiard fall on the more understated side of the spectrum when it comes to Tonni. The lines are soft and graceful, yet there's still a bit of whimsy at play here. The slight bevel of the rim from fore to aft, and the flared boxwood accent keep the composition active and minimally organic, which are two elements often at play in Tonni's work. The bowl is tall and poised, and sports no modest amount of angel hair flame grain. As fine as the grain is under this medium stain, what catches my eye most are the growth rings, which seem to stand out more here than typically seen on a smooth pipe.
