About This Pipe
Though Lasse is no stranger to pieces steeped in some degree of implied motion, this Scoop from the carver displays a distinct, sweeping gesture that's even more greatly emphasized by the gently curved, forward-reaching rim and bowl. All that is paired with a superbly defined transition, as the aft face of the bowl presents a roundness in profile that serves to lend the composition an added sense of plump smoothness both visually and in hand. A vast display of birdseye stretches along the underside, framed by flame grain at the flanks.
