This Freehand from Savinelli's Autograph line is a sleek, checkmark-shaped beauty. At first, this pipe appears as though it could be a bent Dublin, but the illusion is shattered upon examination of the bowl's foremost wall. Unlike the other parts of the wall, which rise to a crisp edge where they meet the rim, the wall's front melds into the rim with a sleek curve, evoking the rushing tumble of water over the edge of a waterfall. Frothing birdseye around the rim blends into the flowing straight grain below, helping to further promote the waterfall analogy. Out back, the shank lifts subtly out of the wide transition, and the softened front of the rim lends the bowl a slightly aftward-leaning posture in conjunction with the back wall's slight flare, hence the comparison to a checkmark. A warm auburn stain dresses the smooth stummel to show off its impressive grain, and its medium-sized chamber makes this a versatile choice for a variety of occasions and blends.
