About This Pipe
In profile this Skovgaard design appears simple enough: a particularly nice rendition of the Pickaxe, with a natural style to its taper and flare of the shank. Viewing it from other angles, however, reveals where things get more complex, as Lasse has introduced relatively subtle (compared to say Tokutomi or Florov) but still significant elements of asymmetry: a sideways, wave-like roll of the beveled rim, and a bowl-taper that's direct on the right, and a long, gradual curve on the left. The particularly neat thing about all that is how these changes in the cross-section, though largely hidden in profile, play a perfect complement to the aforementioned natural style of the shank and transition, resulting in a design that keeps a sense of the organic in view from all angles. From some angles it is obvious, from others you might barely detect it, but still it is always there.
