Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Masur Birch Tobacco Pipe

With fabulous ring grain and a smattering of sandblasted birdseye on the rim, this Dublin from Kent Rasmussen is a study in curves, especially pertaining to the shank, which is rounded on the top but flattened on the bottom, and flares dramatically toward the stem. Accented with a wide piece of Mazur Birch, which contrasts nicely with the dark aesthetic of the rest of the pipe — Mazur Birch is grown in the forests of Northern Europe and displays prominent patterns, sometimes birdseye-like and sometimes with dark streaks. Here is offsets the saddle stem dramatically and provides stunningly geometric curves to the transition, which is low slung and supports the visual weight of the bowl.
