Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Mammoth Tobacco Pipe

Perhaps the most traditionally inclined bent Dublin we've received from Yuwei Huang thus far, this rendition from the Taiwanese artisan is anything but reserved in terms of its finish or aesthetics. Yuwei finished this piece in a medium-deep sandblast, with well-defined growth rings rising in concert with the bowl's flare and climbing up toward the plateau oriented along the softly inflated rim. The chocolate-tinged contrast stain makes the grain even more visually striking as lines of vertical grain bisect the undulating grain that sweeps upward from the lifted heel. A hint of smooth briar is present along the interior of the chamfered rim, sloping inward to the tobacco chamber and acting as a subtle accenting touch. However, the most eye-catching element is the colorful mammoth mount that adorns the shank end, its vibrant hues playfully contrasting the rest of the composition's dark color palette. The expansion disc along the saddle stem's base offers additional visual interest before stepping down to a flattened configuration and ending in a gentle downturn just before the lip button.
