About This Pipe
This pipe from Scott Klein has it all. A little smattering of plateau at the rim, a curvacious rendition of the Dublin, a subtly widening shank ending in plateau, and extraordinary ridge running along the lower left, fabulous consistent grain, well, the list goes on. It's a relatively small pipe with big presence, and the details make it. The inner rim is carefully chamfered in a slightly oval smoke chamber, and birdseye dominates the rest of the rim surface. A subtle but crisp ridge runs up the left side of the bowl, and the ridge separating the lower surface of the shank from the upper is a thing of beauty. Excellent grain extends the length of the shank, and the curvature of the top of the shank and the near side of the bowl make the pipe a pleasure to hold. With a warm, walnut contrast stain, everything pops.
