About This Pipe
The low-set orientation of the sweeping transition works to emphasize the towering height of the bowl, and in turn, all the finely-stranded flame found therein, while the elongated nature of the upward-lifting shank and stem seemingly elongates the form in profile. The bowl itself sports very little taper, with what little there is naturally guiding the eye down to the smooth-flowing transition. The rim, as well, has been subtly beveled, protruding slightly and allowing the birdseye scattered across to really make its presence known.
Of course, it's all finished in Tom's signature Golden Contrast stain, highlighting both flame and birdseye with tasteful vibrancy. If you're a fan of Tom's work, I'd highly recommend this sinuous commemoration. There's simply nothing else like it.
