Scottie is one of the coolest, most capable people on the planet, and it shows in her pipemaking. Famous for her pencil shanks, especially in extraordinarily long pieces, such as this one, she is constantly pushing her creative limits. It isn't easy to drill one of these pipes. It requires long, very slow drilling to reduce bit drift, and with a shank this thin, meticulous exactness is necessary. Also necessary is the stainless steel reinforcement she uses to maintain structural strength. They may look like they are easily broken, but Scottie's pipes are tough. There's something intriguing about a pipe that looks fragile but can still take a beating if necessary. This piece is also a Sitter, which is itself visually deceiving. If you put this pipe down on its side, it will rock upright. Amazing.
