About This Pipe
When it comes to sticking a shape-name to this briar, things are a bit difficult. It's just too smooth for Pickaxe to do, and though I'd be tempted to call it a Ramses by the profile, it would certainly have to be one very modified Ramses, seeing as how the backing "shield" aspect is complete done away with, and the only ridge of any sort is present only in the extension of the underside.
What is the shape, then? Quite nice in hand is what I'd say, and leave it at that. As for details, Gabriele definitely made the most of what the briar offered, which happens to be a lot: beautiful, beautiful grain abounds, and this stronger contrast stain brings it all out with clarity. Though you might not notice it at first, he also made use of the natural plateau, very subtly, with just the tiniest kiss of it left at the tip of the spur.
