About This Pipe
Despite his penchant for Danish-inspired forms, this is the first Acorn of its kind we've seen from Sam Cui — "its kind" being this plump, poised and forward-reaching iteration, with roots in the work of certain Danish greats. The plump bowl makes for an ergonomic feel in hand, while the streamlined shank and understated saddle-stem offer a bit more modern style in profile. Sam's even lent it a teardrop ridge, following the length of the shank, and dissolving effortlessly into the underside of the bowl. With flame and birdseye in all the right places, highlighted by a stellar contrast, this piece is a winner on all fronts.
