Rusticated Pecan with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

A former molecular biologist, Peter Heding became fascinated with pipe making after seeing an interview with the legendary Anne Julie. His interest piqued, Heding took up the craft and eventually transitioned to becoming a pipe maker full time. This Pecan showcases Heding's unique style, which is marked by legible lines, soft curves, and striking accent work. Shape-wise, this piece boasts a plump, wasp-waisted bowl that resembles the unshelled nut of its namesake. The bowl's raised fore wall and sloped aft work in concert to lend the bowl an active appearance in profile. Said bowl is paired to an upturned shank that gradually flares toward an abbreviated saddle stem. The stem turns down toward the bit and promotes a comfortable smoking posture, its elegant curvature offsetting the bowl's forward-surging stance. A crisp, inky rustication dresses the stummel and provides a dark complexion to this pipe, its shadowy hues contrasted by a bright boxwood band at the junction.
