About This Pipe
Scott Klein has been dazzling us with some pretty significant work, and this piece contributes to his reputation. A relatively small piece at just more than five inches in length, it's unusual in the Horn family in that the mouthpiece at the lip button is perpendicular to the rim. With two flat panels on the sides, each highlighting remarkable grain, the fore and aft surfaces are convex. The upper and lower curves of the shank in silhouette represent remarkable execution of geometric precision. Birdseye, of course, dominates the upper and lower surfaces, with straight grain at the chamfered rim. Light and curvacious, with all the earmarks of a great smoker, this Scott Klein should be on your radar.
