About This Pipe
The Pickaxe isn't one of Tom's most common shapes, though those that have come through our doors have been universally impressive. This piece boasts a hint more curvature to its shank and stem compared to previous examples, giving its bowl a more upward-thrust disposition, and allowing its sleek, steep taper to really create a striking profile. The partial sandblast goes a long way, as well, providing some pleasant texture, as well as a fine display of ring grain, without disrupting the carefully-crafted lines of the pipe as a whole. And at the rim, a smooth polish and warm stain highlights a wealth of birdseye, an extra detail that, along with a horn accent at the shank, enhances its visual presence quite nicely.
