Reverse-Calabash designs can come in a variety of forms, but there's one intriguing theme that Scott Klein, in particular, seems to be quite fond of: the "mirrored-bowl" aesthetic. By emulating the rounded form of the bowl, he manages to accommodate a substantial cooling chamber within the shank, without compromising a given shape's compact proportions — while keeping the profile pretty seamless and cohesive overall. That seamless style is all the more evident in this particular number, with the dark sandblast covering the lower portions of the stummel bridging the gap, so to speak, between bowl and shank. The result is a charmingly chubby little briar with a great feel in hand — and one that promises a cool smoke for years to come.
