About This Pipe
This particular set includes one of Tom's highly recognizable bamboo-shanked Pokers and one Eskimo, Tom's own unique variant of Sixten Ivarsson's famed Ukulele shape. The former is lent a crisp, Danish-style sandblast and extra-dark stain, showcasing an extremely impressive cross-cut pattern, with both flanks completely covered in blasted birdseye and a tight, neat column of vertical rings running nearly dead center down the middle of the bowl. The latter, in turn, is polished smooth with its wide, tapering shank and rim serving as a canvas for acres upon acres of birdseye. The two forms and finishes are aptly paired, matching the dark with the light, the tubular with the tapered, the smooth with the rugged — together making for one unforgettable composition. I guess even after 40 years of hard work, it's still good to be a pipe maker.
