About This Pipe
Marrying Danish classic elegance with Industrial Design influences, Pete Prevost's signature shaping cues can be found across the multiple brands associated with him. Neptune Briar, Icarus Pipe, the larger BriarWorks entity as a whole. Pete's got his hands in all of it, and yet still finds time to create his own individual pieces as well — pieces like this stunning Acorn.
The strong forward cant, the extra-high orientation of the waistline, the arcing sweep to the transition and shank. they all nod to the Danish tradition, just with perhaps a more streamlined style and a bit of whimsy and asymmetry. The stem base should look familiar, as it's similar in aesthetic to that employed by Neptune and Icarus — albeit here hand-crafted from cumberland.
It's a great example of Pete's own personal style, and one covered in finely stranded flame. It's been some time since we've seen a briar from Pete, but now that the BriarWorks multiple brands and lines are up and running, I'm sure we'll be seeing a fair bit more of these beautiful pieces in the future.
