Bill Shalosky is an American artisan who entered the world of pipes by first repairing and restoring them. It wasn't long before he began crafting his own pipes, though, and he has since amassed an impressive portfolio, excelling at crafting a variety of shapes, from shape-chart classics to distinctive Freehands. This striking Scoop is one of the latest offerings from the accomplished carver. This is not a shape we see often from Shalosky, making it all the more special.

The Scoop has an inherently energetic composition with plenty of swift, fluid motion thanks to its forward-urging bowl. A concave rim draws further attention to the bowl, which here houses a modest chamber that's well-suited for shorter smoking sessions. The momentum of the bowl is maintained by the upturned shank-and-stem arrangement, whose plump, domed shaping offers a comfortable place to drape a digit. The stummel wears a craggy auburn sandblast, revealing dense waves of ring grain, while an accent ring of bocote adds a subtle pop of textural and tonal contrast.
