About This Pipe
American artisan Micah Redmond's style is characterized by supple curves and hearty proportions, yet his designs often remain compressed, reminiscent of the compact musculature often seen in American pipe making. A timeless take on the classic shape, this Prince does well to adhere to the Anglo-French tradition, maintaining the archetypal profile's demure curvature and softly plump bowl, though it is proportionately longer than the common Prince. The squat bowl features a bulging, low-set waistline, but the heel is subtly paneled, resulting in bugling flanks that foster a comfortable in-hand feel. Out back, a diminutive shank gives way to a tapering stem of bright pink bakelite that takes up the majority of this piece's visual weight. Dressing the stummel is a dark sandblast that highlights fine tendrils of flame grain rising up the bowl's flanks.
