About This Pipe
Peter Heding's Mushroom shape is perhaps one of my favorite signature designs from the Danish artisan. An extra-plump Acorn or Pear, the main difference in his interpretation is the treatment of the rim. Each iteration features a slightly bulbous, well-rounded, beveled rim, followed rather abruptly by a strong taper.
In this particular variant, he's chosen to accentuate that taper with a bold, sharp heel — extending the line of the underside of the shank and the taper of the fore. The result is a perched aesthetic, with the flaring bowl seemingly blooming from the rest of the stummel. As with all of Peter's pipes, it's been shaped to follow the natural grain patterns of the block, leaving behind a bold display of flame and earning this beauty his esteemed "Gold" grade.
