About This Pipe
Pencil-shanked pipes offer a distinct aesthetic with sleek proportions and crisp lines, not to mention a pipe that's overall quite lightweight. Max Rimensi of Il Duca enjoys crafting such pipes, and this Apple expands the Italian artisan's portfolio of slender, pencil-shanked pipes. As is often the case with Rimensi's renditions, the trim shaping of the shank and stem is contrasted against a bowl that's marked by voluptuous curves and bulbous shaping, dominating the visual profile and offering a comfortable in-hand feel. Dressed in a rich, auburn stain, this pipe wears a smooth finish, highlighting windswept grain patterns across the bowl that echo the shape's streamlined shaping. Completing the aesthetic is a flashy band of sterling silver, creating a regal, classy disposition, and while the shank appears delicate in its trimness, Max has lined it with stainless steel in a reverse-tenon configuration to ensure paramount durability.
