About This Pipe
IF you asked me to sum up Max Rimensi's style as a pipemaker, in one word, that word would be "everything". Classic English and Danish to Italian neo-classical or Danish freehand, whatever Max decides he can make a nice shape out of, is in his wheelhouse. In this case, he went with a muscular sort of Danish freehand; smooth of line yet firm and well-knit of proportions. It's a graceful one, in short, yet also one with a definite sense of mass. And that was especially fitting to the briar he chose for it, I'd say, because that is some seriously dense grain right there; the flame, the birdseye, and even the texture of the plateau.
