About This Pipe
Claudio Cavicchi's impressive career in pipe making spans over half a century. With such extensive experience, it is no surprise that the Italian pipe maker has been able to hone his abilities to a legendary status. Graded four "C's" out of a possible five, this is a soft, smooth-flowing bent Dublin from Cavicchi with a Horn-like elegance. Some factors that contribute to the piece's resemblance to a Horn include the gradual, drawn out transition and the low angle of the shank's uplift. These features allow the stummel to swell gradually from the shank face into the inflated, beadline-adorned rim. Whorls of birdseye storm around said rim, framing a capacious chamber. At the other end of the pipe, the stem tapers quickly from the shank face into a slim bit for comfortable clenching. The smooth stummel wears a light stain that shows off excellent grain, evidence of Cavicchi's keen eye for reading briar.
