About This Pipe
Based on photos, I had expected this bent Egg from Dirk Heinemann to be a stout, muscular shape. Muscular it might be, but based firmly in its compactness — this is a shape that would be no trouble to tuck into a jacket pocket. With a touch more structure to the shank, and a crisp teardrop line melting smoothly into the bowl along the left flank, it's an easy piece in hand. And as far as finish, he's gone with a warm stain, complemented perfectly with a pale accent of lilac wood to bring out its fetching grain.
