About This Pipe
With a background in the automotive industry, artisan pipe maker Jerry Zenn utilizes his 25 years of mechanical expertise to craft well-engineered, detail-oriented pieces with superb smoking properties. Living and working in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Zenn is known for his organic shaping style and use of beautiful accents. This sandblasted Tomato is one of the latest offerings to showcase the artisan's keen eye for design.
This is quite the distinctive take on the Tomato shape, with a squat, plump, subtly forward-leaning bowl joined by a broad, angular shank framed by a pair of ridgelines along its underside. This combination of broad, seamless curves and crisp ridgelines creates an interesting juxtaposition of forms, with the shank appearing more angular and architectural, and the bowl taking on a more organic aesthetic. A low-profile sandblast dresses the stummel, accentuating the briar's gorgeous ring grain while maintaining the shape's distinctive silhouette. The stummel also wears a rich auburn stain, which beautifully offsets the pale juma stem with which it's been paired. Measuring just under 4 ¼ inches in length, this Tomato is a conveniently compact Nosewarmer, and despite its diminutive size, its striking form is sure to stand out, even amidst a crowded pipe rack.
