About This Pipe
Bill Shalosky's portfolio is filled with iterations of the Billiard and Apple shapes — Dublins, Brandies, Eggs, extra tall Billiards (like his Eye Scorchers and Brow Burners) with the occasional Volcano and more freehand-rendition sprinkled in. As such, this is the first member of the Bulldog/Rhodesian we've received from the American carver, and what a first one it is. The defined and consistent curve from shank-end to beadline lays out a balanced foundation upon which the entire form builds. The bowl flares from out of the tight transition before tapering quickly to the rim above the single beadline. The easy bend provides a comfortable clench, and the dark sandblast makes the in hand feel delightful while also highlighting the pink ivory accent at the shank-end. Exquisite work.
