Sandblasted Incubus with Bakelite (Hoplite) Tobacco Pipe

Featuring elements of the Dublin, Blowfish, Horn, and Nautilus, all in one compact, cohesive, and downright striking package, this is Todd Johnson's Signature Incubus shape — a design so ubiquitous of his work that it was even included in BriarWorks' Signature line. The strong curving lines around the stummel — with Blowfish-esque, convex panels to either side of the shank, as well as a number of defined ridges along the underside — add a lot of dynamism in profile, while its tight curling gesture from end to end and its overall stout proportions keep things well-knit and muscular. Small, subtle details like the touch of asymmetry to the rim and shank just set it all off, allowing the composition to flow beautifully while directing your attention to various points of the design. It's finished here in a warm, low-profile sandblast — keeping those aforementioned, complex lines very clean and well-defined while also bringing out a ton of grain and texture.
