About This Pipe
Despite being the son of the iconic pipe artisan, Benni Jørgensen, pipe making didn't always come easily to Lasse Skovgaard. It wasn't until he started working in the W.Ø. Larsen workshop, that he was consistently making high quality pieces. With the help of Teddy Knudsen, Skovgaard eventually entered the Chicagoland International Pipe & Tobacciana Show where he sold his first batch of pipes stamped under his own name.
This Acorn from Lasse Skovgaard is a classically Danish piece, with a sweeping profile, supple curves, and intricate line work. From a lifted heel, the walls of the bowl grow plump before tapering back inward to the rim. Nestled within the bowl sits a capacious tobacco chamber, ensuring you don't sacrifice any smoking time with this pipe. A low-set, curvaceous transition provides ample room to wrap the thumb, and it gives way to a rounded shank that flares toward a wide face. A white Ivorite accent protrudes from the shank face, adding contrast to the otherwise dark color palette, and marking the start of a stylized stem made of vulcanite. The jet-black pigment of the mouthpiece pairs well to the stummel, which is dressed in a crisp sandblasted finish, supplying plenty of texture to enjoy.
