Smooth Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

The rim of this Dublin from Lasse Skovgaard waves from front to back in a subtle gesture, slightly lowering the forward rim for just a bit of forward momentum. The photos might be misleading, looking like the near side of the bowl is flattened, but that's an illusion created by the wavy rim. The bowl is round and tapered. Low slung and with quite a proportionally wide shank, the pipe is long but not what I'd call slender, as the shank takes quite a lot of visual precedence, though not in any negative way. It slopes upward from the transition in a long, vertically oval cylinder shape until the sudden expansion at the end, where Lasse has carved a ring of briar to form the end of the shank. Colored in a dynamic contrast stain, with excellent grain well-defined around the bowl and up the shank, as well as wide birdseye on the broad rim and perfectly centered at the heel, this Dublin is in a category of its own.
