About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops. This bent Dublin is a rather refined take on the classic shape, and it exhibits the lovely grain and finish work for which Cavicchi is known.
From above, the bowl takes on an oblong shape, its flanks remaining close-knit despite their impressive thickness. In profile, however, the bowl takes on that classic Dublin flare, the fore swooping forward especially dramatically and offering a sturdy presence in hand. Behind the bowl, a round, subtly upturned shank is joined by a tapered, gracefully arcing stem of acrylic; together, this shank-and-stem arrangement maintains a gracefully fluid silhouette. Dressed in a smooth, honey-blonde finish, the stummel showcases a wealth of handsome grain that earned this piece Cavicchi's CCC grade.
