Sandblasted Bent Egg Tobacco Pipe

Sometimes simple can be just as striking as the wildly shaped or ostentatiously adorned. It's simply a matter of context. As it regards the context of Sam Adebayo's portfolio, the American carver often caters toward pipes of colorful palettes and flowing, organically inclined designs. Such conventions make this bent Egg comparatively quite simple, and as a result, it stands out in beautifully stark contrast. We don't see too many fully bent pieces from Sam, and this one sweeps dramatically through its elegant S-curve, the curve uninterrupted through the stem, shank, and heel. The bend balances out the hearty bowl at the end, providing comfortable hands free smoking while still allowing for a generous chamber within. Fitting in with the simple style, Adebayo opted for a natural Tanblast, resulting in a bowl covered in rippling ring grain and having required an exceptionally grained block of briar. The slightly pinched transition accentuates the bowl's curvature when viewed from the smoker's perspective, while the color palette forgoes Sam's often-seen use of colorful bakelite to present a piece that's a stand out because of its traditional simplicity.
