About This Pipe
Though the composition as a whole seems to follow one continuous arcing line along the underside, the separate elements of this Balloon design are set in stark juxtaposition. The crisp, well-defined lines of the pinched, oval shank, for example, visually propel the composition forward in a firm, powerful stance, yet those firm lines readily dissolve into the round curves and plump waistline of the Acorn-esque bowl. That balance between the soft and the firm makes for a beautiful and dynamic silhouette, brought out all the more by a warm contrast stain and an extra crisp sandblast.
