About This Pipe

Based out of Gueydan, Louisiana, where he was born and raised, Jason Mouton's shaping style is informed by his meticulous eye, continuing to study a variety of artisan works voraciously since he first became acquainted with the craft. Mouton's pipes show strong American inclinations with their compact muscularity, with the fore hosting a touch more plump substance as a signature design cue. An uncommonly seen shape, this Opera is among Mouton's favorite designs to craft and features just a bit of muscularity about its build, possessing an overall lightweight figure that pairs well with the shape's portable form. A pert, ovoid bowl is positioned upfront, its figure formed by slim walls rising from the broad, flattened heel and tapering gently toward the softly rounded rim. Out back is an arrow-straight shank and sleek saddle stem, the pair sure to offer a comfortable clench. Adorning the shank end is a dark buffalo horn accent, its complexion complementing the stummel's crisp, inky sandblast, which offers plenty of intriguing texture for the hand to appreciate, with the rim left smooth for contrast.
