Smooth Dubliner with Bone (Diamond) Tobacco Pipe

The last Dubliner we received from Peter Heding was a Magnum-sized Dublin/Lovat hybrid with a bold heel and a whole lot of stoutness throughout. Suffice to say, this present example is quite a different beast. That's not to say that this too isn't a large Dublin iteration, only that the focus here seems less about statuesque scale and more about dynamic lines throughout. The subtle lift Peter's lent to the heel here, paired with the stout arcing transition, works to guide the eye along a smooth curve and through to the low-profile stretch of shank and stem. That latter aspect shares much in common with some of Tom Eltang's work, namely his Eskimo shape, in its broad tapering form when viewed from above. All together, it makes for a silhouette that's at once both sweeping and streamlined, with a lot of implied forward momentum in profile. Aside from all that inherent dynamism, this particular example also happens to sport Peter's prestigious Diamond grade — a designation it certainly lives up to in the dense, finely-stranded flame and straight grain pattern covering the bowl.
