About This Pipe
Light and lifting of heel, smooth and sweeping of transition and shank, and subtly forward in stance overall, this bent Egg is a true study in Former's style, showcasing so many of the signature cues which ground the Danish classical approach to pipemaking. Every detail is carefully considered and contextualized within the broader composition; even the half-saddle bit serves a larger purpose within the piece, completing the silhoutte's parabolic arc with a final, sinuous flourish. The feel in hand is soft and comfortable, yet quite stimulating as well, courtesy of Former's deftly executed sandblast, resulting in rings of rippling growth rings undulating up from the base. Beautiful work.
