About This Pipe
The Weathered Bone finish was one Chris Askwith actually came up with by happy accident. Experimenting with different finishes on old estate pipes, he left a treatment on the bowl too long. On further inspection, he noticed a texture change that brought out the grain in a very interesting way. After a few more tests and refining the process, he was able to replicate this process in a more controlled manner — producing the intriguing texture and grain patterns that have come to define one of his most popular finishes here at Smokingpipes. While we've seen these Weathered Bone pipes stained in a variety of colors and hues, here Chris went with his traditional white-wash-like style, bringing out and almost woven-thread line texture and aesthetic to the briar. Fittingly, he topped it off with a splash of color, in the form of a lilac polyester mouthpiece.
