While Max Rimensi of Il Duca tends to carve pipes with softly curved heels, this piece offers the opposite with a sharply defined heel spur terminating the downward flow of the bowl. The rim is gently rounded and meets the waistline with more soft curvature, while the tight transition introduces a shank that expands as it climbs to meet the saddle mouthpiece, which tapers from its base to the crisp lip button. A crimson-and-black contrast stain highlights the grain angled around the bowl and combines with the shaping cues for a composition of distinct personality and with character enough to keep one interested.
