Sandblasted Bent Dublin (Four Clubs) Tobacco Pipe

The Becker brand was founded by father and son duo, Fritz and Paolo Becker, Fritz being a renowned painter, sculptor, and, of course, pipe maker who passed the craft to his son. Fritz and Paolo crafted Becker pipes together from 1979, the brand's inaugural year, until Fritz's passing in 1991. Paolo, then, mentored his son, Federico, and after Paolo's death in 2014, Federico now continues the family's pipe-making legacy, deftly maintaining the iconic Becker aesthetic while elevating his work with modern techniques and innovations.

A signature design cue of Becker pipes is a sharply pointed heel and angular style, as well as lean proportions and frequent use of cumberland stems. This bent Dublin, however, forgoes that pointed aesthetic, instead featuring a more rounded heel that, while still pronounced below the transition, is more curvaceous and soft-lined. All of the other aforementioned aspects are typical of Federico's personal shaping style: The proportions are light and trim, furthered by a cumberland saddle stem, and the bowl's forward cant, with a slight lip at the fore of the rim creates dynamic gesture in profile. A stunning block of briar, Becker decided to leave this piece without a stain, allowing it to darken as it's smoked and adding character to the ring grain sweeping up the sandblasted bowl. Plus, the natural color palette is the perfect complement to the ruddy hues of the brindled vulcanite stem.
