While I wouldn't say that this is a Danish freehand shape, I think it's clear that Max was taking a good bit of inspiration from older Danish freehand styles when he came up with this one, blending that a bit with a more structured, Italian neoclassical firmness. Lines are more direct, for example, and though the shank flares, it flares in a more controlled manner than the old Danish "fancy" shapes. Likewise, though there's a strong asymmetry in the cross-section of both bowl and shank, in each case said asymmetry is played out though a single, clear element, in the form of a crisp ridge that creates opposing teardrop shapes.
