About This Cigar
Handmade at the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, under the supervision of Janny and Jaime Garcia, Fonseca cigars boast Cuban heritage dating to 1892. Released in 2020, My Father's revitalization of the iconic brand maintains the original's well-balanced, traditionally Cuban flavor profile, mainly utilizing tobaccos grown on the Garcia family's farms in Nicaragua. The Fonseca Edition MX trades the original's Nicaraguan Shade-grown Corojo 99 Rosado wrapper for one of Mexican San Andrés leaf, and it covers Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos for a robust, medium-full flavor profile.

sweet flavors of cream, coffee and almonds, with a hint of a bitter woodiness, kind of like the woody skin of an almond. Retrohale during this phase was smooth, almondy and leathery. The final third was creamy, leathery and a bit more sweet, but the bitter licorice finish is what kept grabbing my attention and not in a way that I particularly enjoyed.
