About This Pipe
The bowl here is sleek and forward, defined in profile by a long lift of the underside towards the heel, and a fastback-style rake to the smooth but firm curve of the rear face. In contrast, the transition is a delicate little thing, and whether you see its direction as dipping down and forward or rising up and back, the bamboo and stem are doing whatever they're doing quite gently. So, in short, you've got a pipe that's doing two different things in two different directions, meeting in the middle. From transition on back it's gentler and organic, while up front it's streamlined and speeding. What the neat trick is here, is that Jeff knows how to pack the two together naturally; they don't actually conflict at all, and the shape as a whole is tied together as just that — a single whole.
