About This Pipe
"Weathered Bone" is the name of this particular style of finish from Chris Askwith. Using a combination of drill-bit rustication and a fine-medium sandblast, he's able to produce a striking combination of ring-grain like ripples and a tighter, suedeblast-like texture — all quite stimulating in hand. While previously we've seen this type of finish from Chris on white pipes (hence the "Weathered Bone" moniker, here he's paired it to a rich, crimson stain — topped with a matching rose-and-rust acrylic mouthpiece for a bolder style. It works quite well with the more muscular Apple shape, proving once again Chris's penchant for creating classics for the extrovert.
