About This Pipe
Montana native and the man behind Yeti pipes, Micah Cryder became fascinated with pipe making after smoking a pipe for the first time in high school. His passion for the craft became intense and all-encompassing, and he eventually quit his barista job and left university to pursue pipe making full-time. He's now one of America's premier pipe makers, having garnered considerable praise for his unique shaping style, handsome finishing work, and mind-boggling attention to detail.
A handsome showcase of Cryder's whimsical style, this Skater boasts a Dublin-like bowl that stands at the fore of an upturned shank and a demurely curved saddle stem. A sharp, pointed heel supports the bowl's thick, insulating walls, which flare outward to a broad rim crowned with plateau. As the bowl expands, it takes on a subtle forward cant, which, coupled with the shank-and-stem arrangement's rearward stance, lends the entire form a dynamic, angular, check-mark-like silhouette. A dark sandblast dresses the ensemble and highlights rippling growth rings across the bowl's flanks, the finish's dark complexion strikingly contrasted by the Bakelite stem's vibrant green hues.
