About This Pipe
With a softer, more floral style of rim than some of the other bent Dublins we've seen from Ohi, this piece might be a standout as one of my personal favorites. Neat and compact, with a flattened base to allow it to sit firmly, it's a piece that seems designed for those who dream of plucking a pipe straight from the wilderness. Indeed, the organicism inherent to this piece belies some of Ohi's precise linework, itself at play in the smooth balance of forward cant, upward-thrusted shank, and broad transition — each element carefully chosen to feed into the overall aesthetic of the piece. And it's all finished in one of Ohi's crisp sandblasts, its cragginess giving the whole of the work an additional rugged, yet elegant, sense of ease.
