About This Pipe
This is the wildest shape of our first Sam Cui batch; not the most unusual, that goes to his signature Double Acorn, but definitely the one with the most flare and flourish. That having been said, Sam wasn't brash about it. It is essentially a very nice, lightly sprung take on the Blowfish, following familiar themes in terms of paneling, bowl-form, and shank-curl, all of which just happens to have been rendered with a fine sense of precision and energy, from the forward-stretched Acorn profile of the bowl, to the deep-but-narrow transition and high-kicking curve of the shank-end.
In other words, it's the kind of Blowfish I might typically expect of a very good artisan who'd been making pipes two or three (or four, or more) times longer than Sam actually has, and with the benefit of considerably readier access to lessons from established pipemakers. Sam not having any of those things, went and made it anyway. And I'm glad he did.
